Dad had an aortic valve replacement four weeks ago today and he's upset that he hasn't recovered quick enough. He thinks he ought to be out and about, going to the gym and playing golf with me. HAH! He's had open-heart surgery, not a cut on the arm or a hip replacement.
He's becoming grumpy, tyrannical, and depressed. Grumpy and depressed we aren't used to; tyrannical/controlling he's always been. However, he better watch out or he'll get fewer visitors.
He is in a very nice rehab place with very good food. His daily physical therapy is helping little by little. He can get in/out of bed by himself and is no longer on oxygen. Unfortunately, since the surgery he has developed diabetes and a kidney/urinary tract infection. These have him down.
He's been overweight for decades but not obese. His low appetite has resulted in losing weight. This is good, but it made his drawers drop in front of several ladies during his PT the other day.
